Just returned from the States where the talk is of Gerrard but also that Chelsea are considering a move for Carroll in the January window.
Mourinho is quoted as ‘looking to have some diversity in his squad and considers that Carroll brings a more straightforward approach – keeper to striker – & is a tactical alternative that’s lacking in his side’.
He goes on to say he was ‘impressed with Carroll’s work and positioning on Boxing day and has been following his progress since recently returning from injury’.
In addition he said that Chelsea ‘dropped the ball’ when the club released Carlton Cole some years back – he wants to return to having that option – particularly for the Champions league games.
Interesting.

Yeah I live in States too & can defo vouch for the authenticity of this article which also mentions that Mourunho faces fierce competition from LA Lakers who are looking to replace Kobe Bryant with Carrol due to his aerial abilities

I also live in the US and haven't heard anything about Carroll.
It's true the talk is of Gerrard here.
You'd be hard pressed find any "talk" related to anything West Ham in general in the US.

Not sure what Mourinho has said about Cole but think Ranieri said he was one of the most talented young players he had seen.
Was highly thought of at Chelsea then went on loan a lot and never really kicked on. Before settling in for a decade on the West Ham TIT.
